Yui Ikari attended Kyoto University as a bio-engineering student. She was taken in by Professor Fuyutski and later met Gendou. They married and had a son, Shinji, in 2001. She and Gendou, who took her last name, worked together in Project Eva until 2004. She mysteriously disappeared while running an activation test in Eva Unit 01. Gendou was suspected of murdering her, but no one was ever able to prove it.
The truth behind her death is known to only a few....
