Kozo Fuyutski was a professor at the University of Kyoto in 1999. He was a simple man who enjoyed spending time with his students--he was even known to go drinking with them. His boss told him about a woman who had written an interesting paper on bio-engineering and he wanted Fuyutski to take her on as a research student. Her name was Yui Ikari.
Yui and Kozo were very close and she had a lot of respect for him. It was then, in the fall of 1999, that Kozo met a man by the name of Gendou Rokubungi. Fuyutski's first impression of him was that he was a "rogue bull", and Kozo was very surprised to discover that Yui was dating him.
In 2000, after the Second Impact had occured, Kozo was visiting the empty space that had once been the ice continent of Antartica. It was there that he was reunited with Gendou, who had changed his surname to Ikari. Kozo was shocked that Yui had married him and that she was with child.
Fuyutski found it quite convenent that Gendou had left the Katsuragi expedition on September 13th, exactly on day before Second Impact occured. Gendou had also taken all the files back with him. Kozo made it his goal to discover the truth behind what had happened in the antartic. Kozo was able to uncover the files, as well as information about the amount of money Gendou had manage to accumulate. When Kozo threatened to go public with this information he was told the truth and offered a job a Gehirn.
Fuyutski became the vice-commander, behind Gendou, of a new organization called NERV. He knew the truth of Gendou's plans but even he could not stop the rogue bull.
