Ritsuko was born to famous scientist, Naoko Akagi, and it is not hard to see why she chose the path she did. Ritsuko was sometimes brought by her mother to Gehirn in the beginning of the MAGI computers creation. She had brown hair back then. Nothing else is known of Ritsuko's life until 2004 when she met her best friend, Misato Katsuragi. Ritsuko, who now had blond hair, was impressed because Misato was the only person she'd met who didn't care that she was the daughter of a famous scientist.
It was at this time when Ritsuko also met Misato's boyfriend, Ryoji Kaji. The three of them were the best of friends until 2008 when Ritsuko joined Gehirn. She didn't see Misato again until for a while, but heard that she and Kaji had broken up. She also knoew that Misato had joined the third branch in Germany in 2010.
Ritsuko created the computer uplinks for her mother's computers, but many people believe that Ritsuko created the MAGI herself.
Misato and Ritsuko were still best of friends throughout the series, but it was often strained during stressful times.
Ritsuko had many secrets that she didn't share with people. She had secretly taken her mother's place as Gendou Ikari's mistress. She was also one of the only people who knew what the Eva's really were, as well as the truth about Rei Ayanami. Ritsuko was also secretly creating the dummy plug system--she was also the one to destroy it. What can you say? Mother-like Daughter.
Ritsuko lead a lonely life. She attempted to fill that hole with cats, but there are just somethings that cats cannot fill. There is something about Eva that destroys everyone who comes in contact with it.
In the End of Evangelion we learn that she is murdered by Gendou Ikari. A terrible end for a brillant woman.
