Status: Thirteenth angel/Eva Unit-03
Name: Bardiel
First seen: Episode 18
Attack: Physical blows, elastic-like arms, and biofusion
Death: Destroyed by Unit-01, on the dummy plug system
During the activation of the newly-acquired Unit-03, this Eva was possessed and was soon re-classified by Commander Ikari as an Angel. All three Evas were launched, but all pilots were hesitant to attack the Eva, which had a human pilot still inside. The Angel easily defeated both Asuka and Rei, and then moved towards Shinji in Unit-01. It attacked him, but he wouldn't fight, lest the pilot inside was hurt. This angered his father, who disconnected him from Unit-01 and switched it to the dummy-plug system. Unit-01 fought back, and quickly overpowered the Angel, ripping it apart and almost killing the pilot Touji, while all Shinji could do was scream for it to stop.
According to mythology, Bardiel was the angel of blood; hence the bloody death of the angel.

Name: Zeruel
First seen: Episode 19
Attack: Cuts and blows from two long paper-like tentacles; some kind of light beam from its eyes
Death: Destroyed by the bezerk Unit-01
This angel appeared shortly after Shinji's decision to quit piloting. Asuka was launched in her Eva, and tried to defeat the angel, but only narrowly escaped death herself. Rei was then launched in the still-damaged Unit-00, but was also quickly defeated. Shinji watched in horror, and finally returned to headquarters, wanting to pilot again. He intercepted the angel and forced it back to the surface, and finally had the angel under control, before running out of power! The angel took advantage of this, and almost destroyed Eva-01... when it reactivated and easily took the upperhand in the battle. The bezerk Eva destroyed the angel, and then ate it, taking into itself the angel's S^2 organ, thus giving the Eva an unlimited power source.
According to mythology, Zeruel was the angel of might - since this one was a pretty tough angel, it's a good fit.

Name: Arael
First seen: Episode 22
Attack: A beam of light, which contaminates the mind of the opponent
Death: Destroyed by Unit-00, using the Lance of Longinus
Appearing in orbit above Tokyo-3, this angel did not approach within range of attack. It seemingly had no intention to attack Headquarters, and instead waited for the Evas. Asuka was launched in Unit-02, but couldn't reach the angel; it instead shot a beam of light at her Eva, which attacked her mind, bringing back painful childhood memories. With Asuka unable to fight, Rei attempted to shoot the Angel in her Eva, but could not penetrate its AT field. She was sent to Terminal Dogma to retrieve the Lance of Longinus, and by throwing it at the Angel, was finally able to break its hold on Asuka and destroy it.
According to mythology, Arael was the angel of birds - it kinda looked like a bird, and remained high above earth during its attack.

Name: Armisael
First seen: Episode 23
Attack: Biofusion with the oppoment
Death: Destroyed by Unit-00, by its self-destruction
Unit-00 was sent to destroy this angel, as Unit-01 was still in cryostasis. The angel turned out to have incredible manoeverablility, and was able to pass straight through Unit-00's AT field. It began biofusion with the Eva, and communicated mind-to-mind with Rei, telling her they would become one. When Unit-02 was found to be unusable, Unit-01 was unfrozen and sent to help Rei, but the angel then turned to attack Shinji in his Eva. To save him, Rei initiated Unit-00's self-destruct, and killed herself, taking the angel with her.
According to mythology, Armisael was the angel of the womb - I guess all the deep and meaningful conversation of origins with Rei might link to this...?
